Pre-Season Celebration at Mac-A-Cheek Castle

Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 3:30 pm


Enjoy activities that entertained children in the 1880s. Play “harmless” First of April jokes, make Easter cards, hide and search for eggs, play egg games from Germany and Ireland and have an old fashioned egg roll.


This program is sponsored by the Mac-A-Cheek Foundation for the Humanities with partial support from the Mary Eleanor Morris Fund of the Columbus Foundation. 


Admission:

$10 for adults (age 15 and older)

$5 for children (age 5-14)

Celebrate our Nation’s birthday like children did in the 1880s.  Make thunderbolts, whirls and winged fancies fly, hear a story about a local ceremony in 1840, play games, and make the cannon boom. Appropriate for ages 5-adults. ($10 for adults, $5 for children) The program lasts until 6:30 and includes entrance to Mac-A-Cheek.

Handy Boys and Girls Holidays – Halloween

Saturday & Sunday, October 27 & 28, 4:30 pm

Mac-O-Chee Castle

Enjoy 19th century autumn games on the lawn at Mac-O-Chee then enter the building and have fun getting scared by classic stories and poems. Learn about 19th century Halloween customs in our 17th annual event, Ghosts & Goblins:  Literature to Scare and Delight. Appropriate for ages 5-adults. ($10 for adults, $5 for children) The program lasts until 6:00 p.m.
